To Marina Bay Sands and around

marina bay at nite
Wanna upload some picts i took but I left my usb cable in Kuantan and now I'm in KL for a week! and i didnt bring along my macbook .....owh so i just writing this blog using my phone and its kinda challenging because i have big fat fingers... hua hua hua. and i will upload the picts later...
Arrived at MRT Kranji Station.  Bought a ticket to Marina Bay. SING$3.10 (including deposit).  From Kranji to Marina Bay took around 40 minutes.  I almost asleep.
Arrived Marina Bay Station.  Walk to Marina Bay Sands.  Big shopping mall.  A lot of designers outlet over there.  Fendi, Coach, Ralph Lauren, and so much more!!!! There's also theater and casino.  After done with my window shopping hehehehe i cross the street to the hotel.  I went straight to the tower 3.  just before the tower 3 entrance there's escalator down to basement.  I went down and bought a ticket to Sky Park!! yayyy!! I'm going to the Top!! I also given a audio device (complementary)
Tickets to Sky Tower:
Adult : $20, children and elderly a little bit cheaper..but I don't remember how much.. around $15 - $17.  Get into the elevator.  Level 56.
Wowwwwww!! i took my time at the sky park. I feel the air... I'm thinking if there's bungy jump from this place will be great!! I let the sun radiate my skin.  The radiation at this 200meters height is more but i just let the sun radiate my skin..  (hahahah i dont expose much of skin though).  The pool is for member club only.  I just take a walk.  Enjoy the view ( both of natural view and view at the swimming pool hehehe)
The ticket is for 1 time only and no limited time.  I take a stairs to 57th floor.  There's a restaurant.  I had a Coffee under the sun!  The weather is fine on that day. Thank God!  There's also picture service where a professional photographer will snap a photo of you and it cost $17.  Before i go down,  I returned the audio device.

From Marina Bay i walk to MRT City Hall and take LRT to Bugis.  There's a lot of Restaurant and Food and many more at Bugis.  As my stomach start to feel hungry, i take a walk around that place and had my late lunch.  I need some energy to continue walking.. hehehe.... After that i went back to LRT Station, stop to City Hall, transit, take MRT to Dhoby Gaut.  From there I walk in and out from one shopping mall to another.  I can feel Christmas is coming to town hehehe as town is decorated wth Christmas trees, lamps etc and the important thing is Christmas sale is started but may be i came a little bit too early.  Crazy sale is not just yet. heheh.  A bought a few things (well .... since $1 = RM2.42 now huhuhhu :(( )  I eat an ice cream along the way untill i reach Orchad Station and its already dark.  Time to go back home.
From Orchard MRT Station i went to Kranji. Before I took 170 bus at Kranji, i went to the ticket machine and get my $1 deposit back.  From Kranji MRT station $1.20 to Johor Bahru.  And again i went through the same thing as this morning... went off the bus at the Singapore Immigration and get in the bus again, and reach Johor Bahru and get off the bus, went through Malaysia Immigration and I went to JB City Square.  Had my dinner at SD Restaurant.  I had tomyam over there.  Very spicy...love it.  less than RM9.  After that i walk back to the hotel.  Yeah the location of this hotel is so strategic.  5 stars for the location category hehehe.
What a day trip to Singapore!!!!  I felt exhausted (because did a lot of walking) but satisfied.  Moral: DO Exercise on Regulary.  Will I go there again by bus??? well.... yes why not.... but next time I think I gonna try TRaiN.  There's a train from KL to SIngapore... hehehe...   Sentosa Island next time... changed a lot since i went there in 2005.

Johor Bahru to Singapore by BUS

I was watching Discovery Channel @ home, alone and was so amazed.  The episode is about Mega Structure- Marina Bay Sands. It's in Singapore!!!  The landscape is sooooo beautiful. The Sands Sky Park which at the top of 3 hotel towers is so amazing. It's look like a boat or sampan float in the sky!!! Architect Moshe Safdie who was born in Haifa but grew up in Canada is a brilliant urban designer. Habitant 67 in Montreal is one of my favorite tho I never been there $$$ :P . But this time I can see one of his project before my eyes..because it is in Singapore!!! What am I waiting for? It's took just 5 hours or so driving from home!!! Last time I went to Singapore is December 2007... Christmas Shopping Spree of course... Hohoho. This time different agenda.. Well.... shopping will b a minor this time.
So I search a website of Singapore and this is very helpful www.yoursingapore.com

I have a friend who facing a hard moments so I ask her to join me. I guess this trip will cheer her up and she said YES. We plan our trip from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru by car and from Johor we gonna take train or bus. We will decide it later. Week after week I waited. At first my friend ask me to postpone the trip as she is busy with her work. So I agreed. And I'm waiting.., and waiting and no news from her. So I take it as a cancellation.. Hahah may be she already recovered from her hard times and I'm the only one who excited to see one of world wonders engineered project.
So I guess I need to plan it myself. Since I'm working in Kuantan, I think I want to try route that I never tried before which is Kuantan - pekan - rompin- mersing- Johor bahru. Before this I went to singapore via plus hiway or by airplane only.
From Kuantan I drove to pekan via tanjung lumpur, from pekan I took road to Rompin. I had a breakfast in Rompin and so do my kancil. I fill up the fuel at shell nearby. A friendly cashier asked me where I'm heading to and well I said JB (short of Johor Bahru of course hehehe) he did give me some advice which others should know as well. DO NOT STOP when any stone hit your car!! There are some crime happened somewhere along the road rompin - mersing. Small stones thrown to your car on purpose!! If u stop and get out of your car, they ( the stupid criminals) will take this chance to steal or do other crimes.. So..
BE CAReFuL!!! The condition of the road is dangerous as well. People who love straight road need to think twice to use this route.
As for me, I continue my journey as planned and thank to the shell guy for his advice. Finally I reached Johor Bahru. It's not a difficult trip. I just follow the signboard. No map no GPS. Now I'm searching for compact hotel. This hotel is recommended by a friend who lives in Johor bahru. According to him this hotel is the nearest hotel to go to the immigration. I have the address and a small map, location of the compact hotel.. Well I'm in the right road jalan wong ah fok but I didn't see any sign of compact hotel. I make another turn. Still can't allocate the hotel.Aghhhhhh !! Hate this. Owh ya! I on my phone and use the map application. I feel that I wanna scream at that time!!! Hahah according to the mad on my phone the compact hotel = JA Residence hotel!!!!! No wonder I can't find it!
I drove to the parking place .. Wow!! There's lifts. My car never been lift up the building before.I hope it like it heheh. It's kinda scary for me as a first timer. Drive into the lift, and I heard the parking man said "press level 6" so I did that. The door closed and at level 6 it opened and there's parking space hehehe I smile alone.
I went down to the lobby and check in. rm130net per night with hot shower and queen size bed.
The overall condition of the hotel is 2.4 over 5. It's an old building and not well maintained. I walk into my room. The furniture is old and not well maintain but I relieve because it's clean. I turn on the tv.. Checking the tv channels... Tv1,tv2,tv3,ntv7,8tv,Singapore channels, 1 Indonesia channel and sport channel. Then I go to the bathroom. Yes there's hot shower. Other facilities are kettle, iron and iron board and small fridge.
Hungry... Dinner time.. Went out from the hotel and drive down to Damai Seafood Restaurant, which situated in Kampung Danga.  My favorite is seafood cooked in claypot. Yummy!!  With good food at reasonable price with tranquil atmosphere, I don't mind drive 40 minutes (approx) from the hotel.
Next day, wake up early in the morning, had breakfast at the hotel.  Not many choices to choose.  On that day they have cereal, juice, milk, coffe n tea, bread, sausage, egg, nasi impit, kuah lodeh, baked bean and  fruits.  I just had milk and honey stars.
According to Mr. Be@n, I can just walk to the immigration.  I followed his instruction.  Yes, its so simple.  I just need to walk to JB city Square and go to 2nd floor then from there just walk across to JB sentral (there's sign to JB sentral - you will not get lost!!) from JB sentral, just follow the sign to CIQ or just follow where other peoples go hehehehe.  Malaysian passport holder can go through the auto check in.  Place the passport in the slot, follow the instruction, place your thumb.... scanningggg.... done! then you can pass through.  After that just walk until there's sign Platform A and Platform B.  According to Mr.Be@n, take bus 170.  So went to platform B.  Go down the stairs/escalator, there's bus station.  I get into 170 bus.  I asked the driver how much. Owh I forgot to ask Mr. Be@n!!... The driver answer me in Chinese... Duh!!! I don't speak Chinese!! I show him 2 pieces of RM1 note, he just nodded. So, I assume its RM2.  KEEP THE BUS TICKET. The bus took me to the Singapore Immigration.  After it stop, everyone went down.  I just follow the group hehe easy huh.  went up to the immigration, then go down again, wait for 170 bust again, get in that bus, no need to pay just show the bus ticket I bought earlier.  Then the bus took me to Kranji MRT Station.

FlasH Back - 2002 i was 22 years old
I was a fresh grad, working in Penang (Nothern Part of Peninsular Malaysia, got an interview in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Skudai Johor (Southern Part of Peninsular Malaysia). I went back to my hometown in Selangor, asking if anyone can drive me there because I never go to that University. Unfortunately no one cares. My sister busy with her patient, my brother busy with his project and my mom don't drive. So i decided to take a bus and after that may be a cab.
Ma'am.... if i may address u that. If u still remember u take a bus to Johor at midnight from Hentian Puduraya, Kuala Lumpur and a girl (yeah that's me) sitting next to you. You are so friendly and we talk about work and family a bit. You found out that I was going for an interview the next day. You asked me where will i go before the interview since the bus will arrive Johor Bahru at 3 a.m while the interview will start at 9.am. I have no place to go. I plan to wait at the bus station, go to the mosque (i'll find out where the mosque is later) at 6am, pray, take a shower and get ready, then take a cab to the university, I told you sincerely.
Did you remember u offer a girl who next to you in a bus to stay at your house before attending an interview? Did you remember what my answer was? I said YES. I have a good feeling about you. I don't know what was I thinking and my mom surely don't have to know about this...hehehe..
We arrived at Johor bus station at 3a.m and there's your son is waiting to pick u up. I was totally sleepy so I just join you into the car and your son's face is hardly seen. Arrived at hour house, you offer me you mom's room since your mom went back to her house at that time. I was totally exhausted, sleepy and the bed also the pillow was really comfortable i slept like a baby. 6.30am, your son, the youngest, woke me up. I went to pray and continue to sleep. If I think about it back yeah... I'll think how crazy I am. I kinda forget that I went to Johor for an interview?? hahahahha im laughing at myself now. 8.00am: your son woke me up again. And you hand me a towel and show me the bathroom. After i took a shower and get ready, you already prepared breakfast and i had a breakfast with you and your sons and then you drove me to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia!!!
What a hospitality!!!
I don't know how to thank you. I feel very grateful. I don't know why you are so kind to me. A perfect Stranger! I pray that you are always happy. If you read this, I just wanna know I never forget you. Though I forgot you name and face (yeah I'm terrible in remembering faces and names) but I never forget what you've done to me. Yeah.. lesson can be learnt anywhere. this is just one of those
